Update

July 26, 2006

I have had a great response so far to the blog. It has been wonderful to hear from people who knew Charlotte, and also from people who did not know her personally but were touched by the story.

Here are a couple of excerpts from emails I have received:

“I was in Charlotte’s class at Sheredes, and although we grew apart we were good friends for the first few years of our time there. She was such a gentle, kind soul, and so, so clever! She left us all standing!”

“I’m afraid that I didn’t know your sister… I found the link to your website on Wikipedia of all places.

If it’s any consolation, I am sure that her impact on the children whose lives she touched is only augmented by the way in which she died. In an area which has suffered so much at the hands of men peddling senseless violence, she will have been a symbol to all of her students that SOMEBODY actually cares. She represented the millions of us who do want the world to be a better place, but lack her moral convictions to actually make a difference.”
